Ascension is named for the festival that commemorates the day Jesus returned to His Father in heaven.  It was the nearest celebration to the day our congregation was organized. The ascension of Jesus is especially comforting to us since our Lord is: preparing a place for us, speaking for us to the Father, cares for us with His full divine power, sends Spirt-filled people to speak the Good News of sins forgiven, and is preparing to take all believers to be with Him on the Last Day.

    Word & Sacrament Ministry-  Our congregation is rooted and focused on the grace found in the Bible, Jesus Christ, Baptism and the Lord's Supper

Bible based preaching & teaching-  Each worship service and Bible Class is a time of discovering and growing through Biblical teaching and instruction so that the believer grows day by day in faith and holy living. 1st & 3rd Thursday nights at 7:30pm are additional opportunities to study God's Word.  Also, special Movies with PJ(adults) and Movies at PJ's (youth) nights are to discuss daily life issues found portrayed in this format.

We offer:
    Youth Ministry for Jr. High though Sr High.  These kids are a spiritually growing fun filled group!  Parent support makes this program highly effective

    Confirmation(youth) & Lutheran Information Experience (LIFE-adult) for spiritual growth and potential membership in the Lutheran Faith.

    Vacation Bible School is held annually one one week each summer.  ALL children in the community invited!

    Choir and Women's Praise Team for confirmation age & up who want to "make a joyful noise" with us!  These friendly groups use their talents to lead the music of ministry at Ascension.  A variety of styles of music are sung.  We also use instrumentalists for festival occasions and special music times.

    Seekers Bible Study is a women's group that meets weekly in various member's homes and covers a broad range of topics.

    Men's Club hosts the yearly Oktoberfest to raise money for out community assistance program for those in need,  sponsors the Valentine's Dinner, hosts a monthly breakfast Bible study, provides support for a new Lutheran church in Mexico, etc... All men welcome!

    Women of Ascension (associated with the LWML) Bible study, secret pals to confirmation  students, Lutheran World Relief collection, secret prayer partners, retreats, fellowship and fun!

Other ministries of Ascension.....
    55 & over have a monthly "Potblessing" the first Wednesday of each month.  They begin with a short devotion and then share food & fellowship.

    Social Ministry Committee works in cooperation with Operation Blessing of Johnson County to offer help and assistance to person in stressful or emergency situations.

    Together in Mission parterns with Dalton & Deanne Noach in Ghana, Africa.  We help support this special couple who are spreading the Good News to our brothers & sister in Africa
